Fabulous Fathers!

In honour of my lovely dad on Father's Day, here's a picture of us both on his 70th birthday in January this year.

And here's a photograph of my mum's dad, Francis John.  He sent this photo to my nana, Winfred, when he was overseas during the war.  Happy Father's Day, Grandad!

And just because she's fab, here's a photo of my mum!

Happy Father's Day to all our fabulous dads!

It's a Glittery Week!

Ooh, I'm having a glittery week.

Not only have I lost another 3lbs, bringing my weight loss total to 16lbs, but I also noticed today that I've hit 100 followers on my Mimi and Tilly page on Facebook.  And, yesterday, I went through my wardrobe and drawers (The one's that hold my clothes.  Not my "drawers"...)and have taken out all the clothes that don't scream "I am on fire!". (Not literally, obviously.  That would be somewhat of a health and safety nightmare.)

So, thank you everyone for "liking" Mimi and Tilly over on Facebook.  And thank you everyone for your support on my weight-loss journey.

When I started my blog, I had no idea I would have this many followers here on blogger, and on facebook.  Nor that I would have so many friends shouting me on! Thank you.

If you haven't already seen the Mimi and Tilly page on Facebook, you can visit by hitting the link just on the right there...  That's it, that one.  Or you can get to it here...

Oh Happy Day!

Today I feel like doing this...

I won't.  For many reasons.  The main one being, I can't.  But if I could I would.

I weighed myself yesterday, and I have lost weight.

In total I have lost 16lbs in weight over the past two and a half months.

I started eating a very healthy diet towards the end of March.  I haven't been hungry, or been hard on myself.
I've just made lots of small choices to keep eating healthily, one meal at a time.

And when I've fallen off the healthy eating wagon and found myself surrounded by empty ready salted crisp wrappers, I've not beaten myself up.  I've just decided to eat healthily at the next meal.

When I was first diagnosed with M.E. it never occurred to me that I might have to start watching what I was eating because I wasn't exercising the way I used to.

And when I was feeling a bit like this...

I did this...

Not realising I wouldn't be able to do this...

A couple of years ago I weighed in a shocking 3 stones heavier than I had been.  So I set about losing weight.  I lost 1 and 1/2 stones, but somehow couldn't shift the next 1 and 1/2 stones.  I've spent the past couple of years getting really down on myself.

At the end of March, I decided to take a different tack.  I was going to eat a really healthy diet to take care of myself, and I wasn't going to get hung up on the losing weight part of it all.  I just made a commitment to myself to choose to eat a healthy meal each meal time and see what happened.  If I ate something packed with fat, I wasn't going to beat myself up.  I was going to enjoy eating it, and then decide to eat healthily at the next meal.

And it's worked.

Hallelujah!

I've bought myself a purple dress to wear out when I hit my target weight.  I have about 10lbs to lose before I crack that baby out.

I hope you've had a fantastic weekend.

The Secret Gardens...

Come with me and relax awhile...  Lets take a journey through a small village I know...

We'll see gardens and flowers and cats...  Oh my!

Stepping quietly through the first gate...

Into a green and pleasant land...

...  Full of tulips...

Through the arch...  Into the first secret garden...

Full of calm and restfulness...

Some friends to help us find our way...

"Onwards, onwards, you're going the right way!"  Purrs the cat.

"In here, in here!"  Whispers his friend...

We come to a land of purple...

And wooden logs for warm fires...

"This way, over here!"  Miaows a shy cat...

And behind the wall we find a quiet place for resting...

We sit under an open window and listen to the gardener play beautiful music on her piano...

Then we're off again...

To a magical place of flags and bath tubs!

And there, behind the ivy, hidden in the wall...

And up the stairway...

Is a place to curl up and be still...

To meditate...

And to eat breakfast...

'Til, finally, on our gentle journey, we reach the faraway castle...

And stepping through it's gates we find the most secret garden of all...

Filled with rocks, and trees...

And a riot of red...

I hope you've had a wonderful journey and that the flowers are blooming in your garden.
