Ear Ear

Earlier last week, I mentioned I had some earrings I had designed and made that I wanted to share with you.  And here they are.  These earrings are made from etched copper sheet and copper wire.  They have been shaped into a curve for added "dangle appeal", and have tiny etched droplets attached for further "swing".

What do you think?  After I'd finished them, I realised they reminded me a little bit of turtle shells!  These earrings are going to be wending their way to the USA, where a friend of mine lives.  We met in Japan and have been friends ever since.  He wrote to me a little while ago telling me his wife would love my earrings.  He doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to package these up so that he can give them to her as a surprise at Christmas.

  3. I was just thinking turtle shells! They look great.
I was at the Saturday market this weekend and saw a woman selling copper and silver earrings. They had little swirls in Celtic designs.
Copper is such a lovely material, isn't it?

I love them, I adore copper jewellery, it's rare I find a vintage copper piece (other than those Native American pieces I inherited. x

  11. What a lovely idea, your friend and his wife are very lucky.
They remind me of the earliest coins (one of my sons has an encyclopedia and there's a photograph of pieces of metal which were exchanged before coins were invented).
I love the texture and rich finish, they look equally strong and delicate - just like most women I know!

  14. Thanks for all your lovely comments. The ear wires are my own design, Ruth, made from regular copper wire, either 0.8mm or 1mm, I can't remember which width wire I used! Em x
